Basic Ayurveda Gururam Ras is produced from a mixture of herbs such as badi elaichi, peepal, and nimbu ras. The combined parts of the herbs are responsible for its light yellow-brown color. The flavor is a combination of the tangy lemon sour and warm spice hints. The liquid is kept thin in order to achieve smoothness and easy mixing. The badi elaichi pods have black seeds inside them which exude a strong fragrance. The leaves of the peepal tree which are used for medicinal purposes are very wide and grow on very tall trees. The buds of the lavang plant are dried to form dark nails. The berries of the kali mirch plant when ground to powder yield a black color. The resin pieces of heeng give a pungent smell when crushed. The nimbu fruit yields a clear tart juice.
This ras extracts the main parts of each herb to match them fully. The taste combines sweet and spicy of elaichi, and peepal’s mild wood, and nimbu's bright sour. The brown color is due to the spice skins and resins. The concoction contains the basic note of each herb in a single liquid. Elaichi seeds remain in their pods until they are cracked open. Peepal bark serves as a rough surface at the base of the trunk. Lavang oils are strong in tiny buds. Mirch’s heat builds from within the skin.
